[ANN] Phantasia: A CSS Framework

Dear anyone interested in working with Smalltalk objects: Now you can write in Smalltalk to style pages with CSS. Instead of styling with ugly, boring and long Strings (where you must perform a continuous visual sweeping of the code to make the most trivial modification), you can create high-level super sexy CSS constructs, track and review your styles with the standard Smalltalk tools (XReferences), and share constructs and configurations easily. The framework includes a set of 40 fixed layout templates ready for use, and let you compose the basic CSS elements as objects. A note: If your department, office, ark, whatever, have graphical designers, they rarely would love to learn this new strange prolific ninja environment called Smalltalk just for writing CSS - besides, a lot of them are already in love with anything after the word "Adobe" -, but, for smalltalkers, by far we believe that's easier to work inside Smalltalk with objects than in a file-based way. SEO and Seaside

Is Seaside/Squeak SEO-friendly? My website isn't showing up in any search results on Google, Yahoo!, or MSN. Apparently, spiders have a hard time scanning my website. Perhaps because of the "dynamic" nature of the application? Thanks, Richard

Comet, CTSession and CTHandler

Hi everyone, I've been playing around with the Comet implementation (and also porting into VW plus some changes) but I can't figured out why the CTSession has a collection of handlers, instead a simple instance variable with the current CTHandler. Moving from win to linux

Hi All, Probably a stupid question, but are there any particular caveats when moving from a windows-based environment to a linux-based one? After many months of not touching Seaside/Squeak (lack of time, not lack of interest... *sigh*) I tried moving my image (image file + changes file) from Win2k to my Ubuntu machine, and all the code I'd written ages ago survived intact. However, the local seaside app refuses to render the pages with the images and stylesheets as it still does in Win2k (although the path in the source looks ok). Where there are hardcoded slashes, they're forward slashes, which seems to work in both environments. I'm guessing it's something simple, but I feel like I can't see the woods for the trees... What is the easiest way to contribute to the Seaside FAQs? I am collecting small code snippets. Some of these might be worth putting in the FAQs. Should I ask for an account on the Seaside.st site, or is there someone I should email them to, for consideration? Cheers Andy

Scriptaculous and Move

Greetings All, I am trying to use the Move Effect in Scriptaculous. Here is my simple test code: renderContentOn: html html div id: 'testMove'; onClick: (html effect id:'testMove'; duration: 1; move: 10@10); with: [html text: 'this is a test']. When I run this, the javascript for the move effect is executed (I have a breakpoint to prove it) but the element does not move. I have tried the other effects, e.g., "scale" and it works but "move" appears to do nothing. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Frank

Popups

Hi, I try to open a new component in a popup, but when I do something in the new window and go back to the old window to do something there, it creates a new session and the app restarts. My guess is that I do something wrong when I open the popup. What's the right way to open a popup with a new component (not a new application; I setup the component before I open it) in a new window? Btw: in WASession I saw methods like: #closePopup so I thought there're also the counterparts somewhere, but I couldn't find anything, is that somehow related? Seaside URL and FLEX HTTPService

Hi, How would you encode a Seaside URL to be FLEX friendly? The URL was obtained from a call to urlForAction. You cannot send the URL with HTTPService in Flex (http://www.bpurcell.org/blog/index.cfm?entry=1040&mode=entry). But trying the mx:request proposed solution, a <_s> was transformed in %5Fs. And I am not sure how you would pass the third value ("1") for a URL like: http://myserver/seaside/myapp?_s=_DHqtxKBVBxRuX1o&_k=LvjV2ZDx&1 I tried creating an object var o:Object = URLUtil.stringToObject(urlParam, "&"); sField = o._s; kField = o._k; var params:Object = {}; params["_s"] = sField; params["_k"] = kField; params["1"] = ""; and then called a myHTTPService.send(params); but this still did not work. I also tried to pass a fully encoded URL but then FLEX sends: /seaside/myapp?_s=_DHqtxKBVBxRuX1o&_k=LvjV2ZDx&1 This does not work either becasuse of the & Has someone connected FLEX and Seaside through HTTPServer?
