Static serving of jQuery and related files - reg.

Hi All! I would like to move jQuery and related files out of the image have them served directly by Nginx. How do I go about doing that? Thanks in advance. Muthu

lightboxes in Seaside 3.0/VWNC 7.7

Hi, I am using a Seaside application developed with Seaside 2.8 and VWNC 7.6. Now I am trying to move to VWNC 7.7/Seaside 3.0. Nearly all seems to work fine with 7.7/3.0 except for my dialogs implemented as lightboxes. In 7.6/2.9 activating a lightbox makes the window behind the lightbox grey and the lightbox itself appears with yellow background. In 7.7/3.0 activating a lightbox makes the window behind the lightbox grey (okay) but the window is zoomed in (why?). The lightbox has transparent background (why?) making the content unreadable in front of the zoomed main window. What can I do so that my appl. behaves in the same way in VWNC 7.7/ Seaside 3.0 as before? Can't get debug link - please help

Possible Pharo1.0 problem. No error indication while parsing and no debugging triigered on error.

Running with Seaside 3.0 on Pharo 1.0 Simple rendering method with error <witherror> renderContentOn: html html heading: count. html anchor callback: [ self increase]; with: '++' "<<<<< error here - missing period" html space. html anchor callback: [self decrease]; with: '--' </witherror> The error is not indicated while 'accept'ing or prettyprinting. Missing '.' after first with clause. when I access the page I get the error: <error> MessageNotUnderstood: ByteString>>html </error> the page continues in 'Loading...' state, but there is no debugger in the environment. Please help.

About Deployment

Hello, I use Seaside for a lot of personal development and I love its rapidity of development! But for real deployment there is a big disadvantage. At my knowledge, I have only two solutions to deploy an application: have an own server (what I do for the moment) or put my image on seasidehosting. So I have a simple idea: it will be really cool if I can develop in Smalltalk with Seaside and I deploy the code in Php/MySql to put it in any common server. I think this idea is not so crazy. I know there is a world between Smalltalk and Php (I know both well) but a way to implement this idea is perhaps the next one. The first step: the classes (and methods) used in Smalltalk must be translated into Php (some papers show that it is possible into Java for example). The second step are about the alive objects. Because in Smalltalk the alive objects are kept in memory (in the image), a possible solution is to create each object in Php and save them in a MySql database to retrieve them through each page. An important point is that Php is a dynamic typed language. The convertion will be so easier than Java. So my question is the next one to the Seaside developers: what are the big obstacles to achieve this goal ? Some questions in my mind: What about continuations ? What about object reflectivity ? jQuery lightbox in Seaside 3.0

Now that 3.0 RC is available (thanks for all the work; the welcome page is a nice improvement), I'd like to revisit a question I had posted a while ago: is there a jQuery equivalent to the Scriptaculous lightbox in Seaside 3.0? As I understand it, WADecoration subclass SULightbox as used in WAComponent>>#lightbox: allows for the use of #lightbox: instead of a #call:, whereas the jQuery dialog examples require that the dialog component be defined, and its id known, before the 'dialog open' is sent, so the component itself can't be defined in the callback. For jQuery, the example code is... | id | html div id: (id := html nextId); script: (html jQuery new dialog html: JQCounterFunctionalTest new; title: 'Lightbox Dialog'; resizable: false; modal: true). html submitButton onClick: (html jQuery id: id) dialog open; with: 'Open Lightbox' In Scriptaclous, I can code... html submitButton callback: [self lightbox: WACounter new]; with: 'Open Lightbox' ...how can I do the equivalent in jQuery? Coding a jQuery equivalent of the SULightbox decorator does not seem that hard, but I'd rather leave it to the experts ;-) Thanks, Bob

[Oops, accidentally sent to seaside-*dev*; apologies for the noise] -------- Original Message -------- Hi - I was playing with OAuth authentication and in the process decided to test it against Twitter and since it's kind of fun, I thought I'd share it with the rest of the world. You can run the (very simple) demo here: http://ardemo.seasidehosting.st/seaside/twitter All it does is after you log in via Twitter it shows you the account info that Twitter shares with the app and allows you to tweet a little. The OAuth part itself is now integrated in WebClient's suite of auth methods and the little Twitter demo is available in http://www.squeaksource.com/ar.html and can be installed via (Installer ss project: 'ar') install: 'Twitter-Squeak'. Since I found OAuth to be a pretty major PITA I hope that this example will prove helpful for people who have to deal with this stuff. Lastly, a Seaside question that came up in the above: Part of the OAuth process requires passing a specific callback url to the remote site (which is the url the user gets redirected to after authentication was successful). Since I couldn't figure out how to obtain the url otherwise, I've been stashing it away in a rendering method (since there's access to the rendering context's callback store) like here: renderLoginPageOn: html "Set up the callback url for Twitter to return to" callback := WAActionCallback on: [self twitterCallback]. url := html actionUrl copy addField: (html callbacks store: callback). "We need the host and the scheme here; the scheme is guesswork" urlString := 'http://', host, '/', url asString. oauthParams at: 'oauth_callback' put: urlString encodeForHTTP. and then later the callback is passed to Twitter and the user sent back to the app. This works, but I'm wondering if that's the right thing to do, and if not, how one would set up and register such a callback url outside of rendering. Securing the site

I'm new to Smalltalk and Seaside. I started Seaside 3.0 all-in-one for Windows. I started the adapter from the control panel and put it in deployment mode. However, if I point my browser to http://localhost:8080 the menu strip down the bottom (the one with Configure and Halos on it) is still visible. What gives? That's worrying. Isn't that massively insecure? I've Googled around for deploying Seaside, but I can't seem to find a straight answer about what I'm supposed to do about it.

Hi all, So far I've been always using the WYSIWYG ShoreComponents text editor for my websites, but now I'd need something a little bit more complex, I'd just need to add the possibility to create links and add images to the text, nothing else. I wanted to modify the ShoreComponents editor myself, but my knowledge in Javascript is as extensive as my knowledge in the harvesting of the Korean pumpkin... What do you guys usually use? Thanks! Trouble getting started

Hi, I tried to get into Seaside a couple of years ago, and worked my way through the tutorial until I got to a point where neither I (with minimal Smalltalk experience), not my friend (with extensive experience as a professional Smalltalk programmer), could get a certain step in the tutorial to work. After a while, we gave up. I've come back to it today, and am working through the seaside book (Dynamic Web Development with Seaside), Unfortunalte, this time I can only get as far as page 27 before encountering the first problem I don't know how to resolve. WAAdmin register: WebCounter asApplicationAt: 'webcounter' gives: Unknown variable WAAdmin please correct, or cancel: This is using the pharo one click installer image, as downloaded about a week ago. Indeed, I can't find a class called WAAdmin anywhere in the image, not any class with a selector matching register:asApplicationAt: Also, how come this is a mailing list and not a forum? I've been using t'Internet for over 20 years, but it's rare that I encounter mailing lists these days. I can't even remember how to search the archives... -- Ram Ram
