Using closures to create continuations

Java and C# 2.0 supports closures. Is it possible to make seaside-like framework using only closures? What if instead of #call: will be used #call:onAnswer: with a closure as second argument? Is there any pitfalls? -- Andrei N.Sobchuck JabberID: andreis(a)jabber.ru. ICQ UIN: 46466235.

WABasicAuthentication

I've been playing with WABasicAuthentication a bit. I've added it to my component as a decoration and it works just find. So, now, whenever anyone tries to access the component, they are required to be logged in. Now, what I'd like to be able to do is, instead of using the standard WABasicAuthentication that opens up a browser login window, I'd like to be able to redirect the user to a login form. WABasicAuthentication sends information in clear text to the server and my login form is running with SSL. Is it possible to add something as simple as a decoration that would redirect the user to the login form and upon successful login, send the user back to where they originally wanted to go? Problem Starting Seaside

Please disregard previous email. I had thought Seaside loaded dependencies automagically and the problem was that KomHttpServer and its dependencies were not loaded. Thanks anyway, Daniel

Forgot Configuration Password!

Hi all, What can I do now that I have forgotten the password I set Seaside up with? Is there someplace I can look copy/edit/change it? Is there anyway to reset it? Thanx, Joe

I had to add that code so that SeasideForSwazoo and SeasideForWebToolkit behave the same. Michel.

Version 2.5b7 for VW is ready

I just published Seaside 2.5b7 for VW on the public repository. It is based upon Seaside2.5b7-avi.10.mcz 14 March 2005, 3:20:25 pm That is, the very latest version of 2.5b7. Bundle to load : either SeasideForWebToolkit or SeasideForSwazoo. These are primarily targeted to VisualWorks 7.3 but should probably work with earlier versions. I also updated these bundles SeasideTestingBundle Mewa Enjoy, Michel.

How to add GLORP to a Seaside application?

I'm afraid I painted myself in yet another corner with GLORP and Seaside. The problem is that glorp does not support nesting of UnitOfWorks. That, together with the highly dynamic behaviour of Seaside applications, leads to my losing much hair... Consider for example a navigation bar with two links, each leading to an editing pane for some database object. On each I have something like MyEditingPane>>renderContentOn: html session beginUnitOfWork. (self confirm: 'Do you want to save that?') ifTrue: [ s commitUnitOfWork ] ifFalse: [ s rollbackUnitOfWork ] Now when the user changes to the other editor pane while the #confirm: is displayed, *boom*, glorp throws an exception. The only way I see out of that is to use UnitOfWorks only when it can't be preempted by the user. But then, don't I lose all the benefits (like in the example above, being able to roll back easily)? My real example is a bit more complicated, so I can't just move the #beginUnitOfWork after the confirm as it's doing the modifications in a #call'ed subcomponent and returns true/false depending on the user hitting a save or revert button. Wrong approach to that problem? mjl

In the VisualWorks port, an instance of WAFile is created when the HTTP request includes a MIME part. This happens at a very early stage while parsing the HTTP request so that proper WAxxx objects are made available to Seaside. Do you think we should create a WAImage object wherever appropriate this early in the process ? This would imply parsing every file.
