Problem showing a JPEG to the world

Hi ! I'm having a problem putting a picture out. I'm doing this in my renderContentOn: html imageWithForm: ((pict picture) scaledToSize: 220@165). imageWithForm: renders the image as a GIF, using the web palette. The original image is a JPEG, and I would like to output it as such. Where have I gone wrong ? I'm a relative newbie to Squeak and Seaside, but I like them both :) You'll get a convert real-soon-now... Thanks ! François

Hi, what would be the most complete Seaside tutorial so far? I'm studying Stephane Ducasses et al. "Seaside - A Multiple Control Flow Web Application Framework" as I reckon it's the most complete one. Someone please correct me! Günther

Processing http GET requests

Another thing I stumbled over recently -- is it possible to get Seaside to process arbitrary GET requests? Say I continuously get data updates by means of http-requests, so I would like Seaside to somehow hand me requests like http://blabla.bla.org/seaside/myapp?param1=foo&param2=bar so I can look at the parameters and do something useful, like updating my internal data model. Note that the application sending the requests is usually rather dumb, so doing a complicated Seaside session dance is out of the question -- I get requests like the above and that's it. I haven't found anything in this general direction in the Seaside docs, is this possible at all? mjl

localizing html dateInput and other widgets

Hi, I have the feeling, that when I want to localize, for instance, html dateInput, I will have to subclass WAHTMLRenderer so that it then will use another subclass of that dateInput Widget class. Am I right here? Gütnher

State sharing between all sessions?

I just got a request for a small web application which would require me to share some global state/variable between all session. Now that I think about it, I have no idea how to do that with Seaside, short of keeping the global state in a file on disk/in a database and re-reading it every time a request comes in. This would surely work, but it doesn't strike me as overly elegant. "remove" command

Hi I have a seaside application that uses a custom session. (In the custom session I overwrote the unregistered method to close the connection to a namingservice.) When I remove the application with the config tool (/seaside/go/config) I can no longer access the config tool. The error message indicates that something still tries to access the namingservice. I also noticed that clicking on the "remove" link won't call the session's unregistered method. Is there a way to remove an application and all sessions instantly? Mike

[VW] Version 2.6a1 for VW is ready

I just published Seaside 2.6a1 for VW on the public repository. It is based upon Seaside2.6a1-avi.39.mcz. That is, the very latest version of 2.6a1. Bundle to load : either SeasideForWebToolkit or SeasideForSwazoo. These are primarily targeted to VisualWorks 7.3.1 but should probably work with earlier versions. Beware: This version of Seaside uses #displayString rather than #asString to obtain string representations of objects. Seaside/Squeak applications that are using #asString may not port well to VisualWorks. I updated these bundles to properly use #displayString : SeasideTestingBundle Mewa If needed, the installation of Seaside can be made completely silent (i.e. no dialog at all). To achieve this, start with loading package named "SeasideSettings", then use the VisualWorks Settings tool to specify your desired options. VisualWorks 7.3.1 which is about to be released will ship with Seaside parcels in the "goodie" directory. These parcels are based on version Seaside2.5b7-avi.10. Most of the Seaside samples that can be found in the Seaside/BonusPack directory should work fine with 2.6a1. Enjoy, Michel.
