music remixer

A Squeak-based music remixer with a Seaside web GUI, is (intermittently) online at: http://tone23.org/qtone. Will hopefully be incorporated into a commercial site eventually, but for now this (alpha) version is there for the curious, running on my home machine (a 4-processor Macintel). Aesthetically it's real simple (visually) so far, with some evident hacks owing to my limited experience with html and web apps. This was essentially an exercise at duplicating a desktop-based (Morphic) app in Seaside. (No facility for importing MIDI/audio files yet - only preset choices) Anyway, questions and comments welcome (can also reach me at jayh(a)panix.com) Jay

scriptaculous Multi-Select-tree support

Hello All, i work with VW 7.4.1 and SeasideScriptaculous (2.6b1.108.0,mbany) from store.cincomsmalltalk.com:5432_store_public. i send again my question : I have see scriptaculous SUAllTest. In the scriptaculous FORM tab i have see the Multi-Select-list elements. Now i'm interested to work with Multi-Select-tree support ( with multi select option and correct position on the last item select when redisplay). For now i use WATree but this not support multi select items, and when renderContentOn: it, the position display start always to the root of the tree. At my first e-mail Lukas answer: < I don't understand what you exactly mean by multi-select-tree support. < Do you mean a select-list with indented items? ( yes. Is it the only solution on the XHTML for implemetn tree view? ) < If you do so, then < check out the archive of this mailing-list, there were a couple of < discussions about this. ( I' have sarch in my mailing-list archive but i d'ont found never about my problem ). Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Dario Trussardi

I read the document. Looks like a slight API change since the isolate: method has moved from WASession to WAComponent. That aside, I decided to test this by adding the technique to the WACounter example class. Here are the methods I changed: increase self isolate: [ count := count + 1 ] decrease self isolate: [ count = 0 ifFalse: [count := count - 1] ifTrue: [(self confirm: 'Do you want to go negative?') ifTrue: [self inform: 'Ok, let''s go negative!'. count := -100]]]. The example seems to behave exactly as without the isolate: code. I can use the back button and then click on ++ or --. They work as before. title attribute

I was looking for the #title: attribute and found it implemented as #title: only on WAAnghorTag, whereas #tooltip: implements #title: on WABrushTag. Squeak UI is freezing

Hi I'm using the 3.9 image, the developer version and I have the UI that freeze sometimes. Usually, when something like that appeared, I used <cmd> . to stop the process but here it's different. Whent the UI freeze, the cpu occupation is around 0% and <cmd> . just doesn't work ! Note, that when the UI is frozen but I can still use seaside applpication and sometimes I can get the hand back after playing with seaside or restarting a session. Does someone encounter the same problem ? I use 3.9g-7058 with most of the dev-packages I had this problem with linux (ubuntu), with vm 3.9-7 but also under windows. Do you think this is a problem is due to my image ? Thanks Cédrick

Overriding session class for SeasideTesting based test cases...?

I'm again trying to setup some nice test cases for my web-app with the help of David Shaffer's SeasideTesting package. The one think that I'm stumped with (for today anyway) is that my application requires the use of a custom session class, but I don't see an obvious way to override what the SeasideTesting framework is using for the session. Has anyone done this in the past and if so how? Thanks! -- Rick

changing components without a complete redraw

Howdy, I'm trying to figure out how to use Seaside and Scriptaculous to cause components on a page to be redrawn if they have changed from the last HTTP request. The scenario looks something like: html anchor onClick: (html updater callback: [ :render | self changeMe. self otherComponent changeYou. render renderAllChangedElements ]); with: 'Do Change'. The existing implementation of SUUpdater does not collect the changed components and push all the changes back to the client at once. Has anyone done any work to collect all the changes and push them back to the browser (the renderAllChangedElements call)? If not, I'll be happy to knock something together. Thanks, David

Image shutdown/startup on demand

Hi all, Currently I have a couple images running only couple applications each. We have plans in the near future to have more apps running on the same computer. The current plan it to have them all run in the same image. I understand that some people run each application in a separate image. This image will start up when needed and shut down after is has been used. I can see the advantages of doing it this way especially if you are using the image for persistence. How are people doing this? Apache, Apache+PHP/Perl/Ruby, Squeak? Ideally I would like to see it done in Squeak with a Seaside front- end. How are you keeping the Images up to date? What are some of the disadvantages of doing it this way. Some of the obvious ones I see are keeping all this images up to date and you could actually use more of the machines memory if lots of the images are up and running at the same time. It would be nice if front end allowed you to set up prototype images, maintain images, and show the status of the images. Are there any prebuilt solutions out there that do this (preferably free and running on Squeak)? If not how much interest is there in something like this. It looks like this might be a path I want to pursue. Thanks Will
