[Oops, accidentally sent to seaside-*dev*; apologies for the noise] -------- Original Message -------- Hi - I was playing with OAuth authentication and in the process decided to test it against Twitter and since it's kind of fun, I thought I'd share it with the rest of the world. You can run the (very simple) demo here: http://ardemo.seasidehosting.st/seaside/twitter All it does is after you log in via Twitter it shows you the account info that Twitter shares with the app and allows you to tweet a little. The OAuth part itself is now integrated in WebClient's suite of auth methods and the little Twitter demo is available in http://www.squeaksource.com/ar.html and can be installed via (Installer ss project: 'ar') install: 'Twitter-Squeak'. Since I found OAuth to be a pretty major PITA I hope that this example will prove helpful for people who have to deal with this stuff. Lastly, a Seaside question that came up in the above: Part of the OAuth process requires passing a specific callback url to the remote site (which is the url the user gets redirected to after authentication was successful). Since I couldn't figure out how to obtain the url otherwise, I've been stashing it away in a rendering method (since there's access to the rendering context's callback store) like here: renderLoginPageOn: html "Set up the callback url for Twitter to return to" callback := WAActionCallback on: [self twitterCallback]. url := html actionUrl copy addField: (html callbacks store: callback). "We need the host and the scheme here; the scheme is guesswork" urlString := 'http://', host, '/', url asString. oauthParams at: 'oauth_callback' put: urlString encodeForHTTP. and then later the callback is passed to Twitter and the user sent back to the app. This works, but I'm wondering if that's the right thing to do, and if not, how one would set up and register such a callback url outside of rendering. Magritte2 validation behaviour question

Dear list, I have a question about the validation behaviour of Magritte 2. I have a root entity an Animal. This animal has some properties that are required. (beRequired specified on the descriptions). And a condition between some properties: Animal class>>conditionDateOfDeathVerplichtBijStatusDeath ^[:value| |dateOfDeath status| dateOfDeath := value readUsing: self descriptionDateOfDeath. status := value readUsing: self descriptionStatus. (status == AnimalStatus dead) ifTrue: [dateOfDeath isNil not] ifFalse: [true]] and: Animal class>>descriptionContainer ^super descriptionContainer addCondition: (self conditionDateOfDeathVerplichtBijStatusDeath) labelled: 'Date of death is verplicht bij status Death'; yourself. Validation of this Animal entity works fine if I don't fill in the required fields => 3 error messages appear. If I choose status=death, but forget to fill in a date of death the message appears. However if I do both: forget to fill in required fields, and choose status=death and forget to fill in date of death; only the date of death message appears... This is something I'm not expecting. I've looked into the code and: MAValidationVisitor>>visitContainer: aDescription | errors | super visitContainer: aDescription. self object ifNil: [ ^ self ]. errors := OrderedCollection new. aDescription do: [ :description | [ self use: (object readUsing: description) during: [ self visit: description ] ] on: MAValidationError do: [ :err | errors add: err ] ]. errors isEmpty ifFalse: [ MAMultipleErrors description: aDescription errors: errors signal: aDescription label ] is the code that validates a container with its children. the line: super visitContainer: aDescription. validates the container itself, so the extra condition=> if that one failes, an error thrown up the stack and it does not validate the children any more (the required conditions). If I change the code to something like: MAValidationVisitor>>visitContainer: aDescription | errors | errors := OrderedCollection new. [super visitContainer: aDescription] on: MAValidationError do: [:err|errors add: err]. self object ifNil: [ ^ self ]. aDescription do: [ :description | [ self use: (object readUsing: description) during: [ self visit: description ] ] on: MAValidationError do: [ :err | errors add: err ] ]. errors isEmpty ifFalse: [ MAMultipleErrors description: aDescription errors: errors signal: aDescription label ] I collect both errors and see a list of all errors in my gui. I'm not sure if this is a correct fix. Any advice on this problem? Or is it by design that Magritte behaves like this. Securing the site

I'm new to Smalltalk and Seaside. I started Seaside 3.0 all-in-one for Windows. I started the adapter from the control panel and put it in deployment mode. However, if I point my browser to http://localhost:8080 the menu strip down the bottom (the one with Configure and Halos on it) is still visible. What gives? That's worrying. Isn't that massively insecure? I've Googled around for deploying Seaside, but I can't seem to find a straight answer about what I'm supposed to do about it.

LightBox not returning the control

Hi All, I want to return control from lightbox to any other page(not the page from which I am calling it). What problem I am facing is it opens the page in lightbox itself. what I am doing is anObject:= otherPage new self call:anObject. Thanks Harjinder

WYSIWYG text editor

Hi all, So far I've been always using the WYSIWYG ShoreComponents text editor for my websites, but now I'd need something a little bit more complex, I'd just need to add the possibility to create links and add images to the text, nothing else. I wanted to modify the ShoreComponents editor myself, but my knowledge in Javascript is as extensive as my knowledge in the harvesting of the Korean pumpkin... What do you guys usually use? Thanks! Ajax file upload with XHRRequest and iframe fallback

Hi all, I managed to get a Ajax file uploade using XMLHttpRequests and iFrame callback working in seaside using the http://valums.com/ajax-upload/library. As of now, I managed to get it working on Firefox 3.6, but IE and Chrome are still a bit wierd (the file gets uploaded, but the successfull json response is not handled correctly. This breaks the rest of my applications, when using JQuery ajax post callbacks. requestFieldsFor: aNativeRequest | fields | fields := Seaside.WARequestFields new. Chrome and IE use multipart uploads (WHY CAN'T ALL BROWSERS HANDLE THIS STUFF THE SAME!!). Issues: Upload response not handled correctly in Chrome and IE. Would anybody be interested helping me with getting this to work on all modern browsers? I plan to put this in the JQuery Widgetbox package on Pharo (as well as my other JQWidgetBOx plugins like JQGrid with editing functionality, JSTree and JQAddress for history support in ajax applications (screenshot at: http://ScrnSht.com/afrqgq. This is a dutch dating website I am creating in seaside :D. Don't mind the content, look at the goodies :) ) ) Also, I would like to learn more on how to share my VW JQuery plugins to Pharo. I anyone willing to help me with porting those? I can setup a public VW repository holding those plugins or put it in the cincom public repos). Hello, I've published some packages that help developing applications that use the Dojo Toolkit (http://www.dojotoolkit.org). Dojo is a Javascript library that provides DOM queries and manipulation functions, event handling, Ajax requests, widgets and more. To get the code: Squeak: - Repository: http://www.squeaksource.com/DojoToolkit - Project page: http://www.squeaksource.com/DojoToolkit.html - Configuration Gofer new squeaksource: 'DojoToolkit'; package: 'ConfigurationOfDojoToolkit'; load. (Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfDojoToolkit) perform: #load. This is the first configuration one I ever wrote, so it's certainly buggy ;) I only tested it with Pharo-1.1 Oneclick. VisualWorks: - load it from Cincom's public repository, bundle is called "DojoToolkitBundle" The examples are registered at /examples/Dojo I would like to thank the authors of the jQuery package for Seaside. Although the Dojo library differs in many aspects, the framework of the jQuery package was very helpful. I actually copied some Ajax-related code. The Dojo packages are published under the MIT license, so I hope this is ok. Three usage examples: - Button that triggers an Ajax request: html submitButton onClick: ( html dojo ajax script: [: s | s << (( s dojo query: #status) innerHTML: 'OK' ]); text: 'Callback' - A textarea that dynamically expands/contracts its size: Programmatically: html div style: 'width: 400px'; script: html dojoUI new textarea; with: 'Enter more text.'. With markup (see http://docs.dojocampus.org/dojo/parser): html dojoTextarea style: 'width: 400px'; with: 'Enter more text.' The packages are not complete yet.
