MooTools for Seaside status

Does anybody know the status of MooTools for Seaside? The examples I've been trying have been breaking left right and center and the versions seem several years old. It seems that Scriptaculous or JQuery can do basically the same things MooTools can do. Is it worth looking at? David Buck

Seaside elements vs. HTML5 spec

The HTML5 spec is still changing and it's hard to keep up with the latest changes. Since I'm developing a Seaside course, I decided to go through the current HTML5 spec (Editor's Draft 23 September 2011) and compare what element tags are available in that spec versus the tags we support in Seaside (Seaside 3.0 - 8 released with VW7.8). In general, Seaside has quite good support for HTML5. Here are the differences I've found: Note: I'm simply offering this list as information for anyone interested. I needed to research this for the course and thought it would be good to share the results. The following tags are inconsistent between Seaside and the current version of HTML5 mark (already reported) Tags in HTML5 not supported by Seaside (some of these are poor style and should use newer tags but are still supported in HTML): hgroup figcaption s i (should use emphasis) b (should use strong) u (shouldn't really use at all) bdi bdo wbr embed audio (interestingly, a WAAudioTag class exists with no call from the canvas) track map (WAImageMapTag class uses an anchor tag) area output summary The following tags are supported by Seaside but aren't in the current HTML5 spec (no problem keeping them for backward compatibility but perhaps they should be marked as deprecated): rubyBase rubyBaseContainer rubyTextContainer datagrid acronym dialog teletype David Buck

HTML5 <mark> tag

The method WAHtmlCanvas >> marked inserts a <m> tag. I see no reference in the HTML5 spec to an <m> tag but I do see a <mark> tag which seems to do what you want. Should this be updated? David Buck

Hi, Thanks. In the latest version of all Grease packages and the print: method is not around in the Stream hierarchy. So, for is it Ok to have the fix in BOLatexWriter>>visitInternalLink: by replacing stream with latex to work with print: or do you see problems there? How to re-render a component including its callbacks

Greetings, I have a list, each item in the list has a callback html select id: 'items'; list: origItems; callback: [:returnedItem | ...] I also have a radio button that switches the contents of the list on the fly (using onChange:). I re-render the list with new items when the radio button is hit (using onChange:). The contents of the list does change but in the callback for the list, the "returnedItem" is the item from the original list. It is as if rendering the list left the initial callbacks unchanged. Is there a way to re-render a component and have the callbacks use the new data? Thanks, Frank

Seaside not loading css styles (but our fault)

Hi seasiders. We are doing some experiments to export/import seaside packages and one strange thing we noticed is that after materialization, when we start seaside, it has none style. Look at the attached screenshot. Do you know some problem we may be having? some class var not being initialized, or reinitialized or whatever? where are the styles stored? Re-rendering page when Radio button is hit

Hello, I have a page with a form that contains some radio buttons. I do NOT have a Submit button on the form. When a radio button is hit, I am using onClick: to execute some block of code. In that block of code I would like to force the entire page to be re-displayed. Is there a way to do this? Thank you for any help you can provide, Frank

As some of you may know there is a new Smalltalk in town - and up until today it was called Jtalk. After a furious three week development period after the ESUG 2011 conference (where Jtalk raised some eyebrows) we are now making a first release humbly numbered 0.9. We are also taking the opportunity to pick a slicker name for Jtalk - Amber! New website is at: http://www.amber-lang.net So, why would you take a look at Amber? In our opinion Amber is perfectly positioned for the HTML5 onslaught and the explosion of all-things-javascript like for example Nodejs. It is a Smalltalk that plays well with others and can seamlessly use Javascript libraries. At the same time Amber feels like a *real* Smalltalk, the environment is all there including Workspace, Transcript, Browser, senders/implementors/references to class, TestRunner, Inspectors, code editing with syntax coloring and a Debugger. There is no image, but all compilation is incremental. Below follows a summary of the massive changes since ESUG that triggered us to make a first release. We hope you join us in developing Amber and having fun! There is already work being made in using Amber on top of Java using Rhino, using Amber for making games and lots more. GRPharoPlatform>>isIpAddress bug?

Hi, I think I've discovered an problem in the following class>>method but still considering myself somewhat of a newbie, I'm not entirely sure: GRPharoPlatform>>isIpAddress: aString | ip | ip := aString findTokens: '.'. ^ ip size = 4 and: [ ip allSatisfy: [ :each | each greaseInteger notNil and: [ each greaseInteger notNil between: 0 and: 255] ] ] The problem is the last line "each greaseInteger notNil between: 0 and: 255"... where the notNil message returns a true or false, and it does not respond to "between:and:". I believe the fix ought to be to remove the "notNil" in the last line to result in the line: "each greaseInteger between: 0 and: 255" since the "notNil" is already considered before the "and:".
