Handling not found

Hi, running a simple seaside demo app using Seaside with Zinc (ZnZincServerAdaptor) and Pharo. Its available from http://localhost:8080/myapp and (since I changed the default) also on http://localhost:8080 When entering http://localhost:8080/somethingtotallyunknown I get a 'not found' which seems to be handled by default in WAResponseGenerator>>notFound. I would like to have a nice page when nothing is found. Since it should run standalone I dont want to catch 404 at the front (apache, nginx) but directly in seaside to redirect to a nice "You are lost" page. How can I register an own #responseGenerator that can handle 404? Thx T.

A welcome; and chaining jQuery events

Hello, I'd like to welcome everyone on this list. I was playing with Seaside many years ago and I'm very glad to see it not only survived but being still active and evolving :) Now I'm trying to get my head around the idea of interactive web components I always wanted to have in a library. Looks like with some creativity and discipline Seaside may be the platform it's possible to have such thing on. I am experimenting now with giving the components visual behavior via jquery effects. Say I want to: fade out some dom element, then replace it with another and fade in this new one. My tries now boil down to a very specific question: How to properly chain jQuery effects? If I do something like: html fooElement id: id; onClick: (html jQuery ajax script: [ :s | s << (s jQuery: id) fadeOut: 2 seconds. s << (s jQuery: id) parent html: OtherFoo new. ] then the fade-out action will be fired -- meaning: started, but then the dom replacement will be also fired right-away, effectively replacing the element being faded out. I need a method for chaining actions - not only pre-existing effects but also dom manipulation, and, ideally, any javascript, so that one is starting upon completion of another. I realize it'd require to have some Seaside API over what goes into js complete() callback handlers - is there anything like this, possibly undocumented? cheers, Wojtek

TwitterBootstrap dropdowns and submitting on change

Hi guys, In my application I have many many places in which I need to submit the surrounding form once an item has been selected from a list or things like that. For example, for a "html select", I am relying on #beSubmitOnChange (which is deprecated....). I am now using #tbsButtonGroup and #tbsDropdownMenu (they are inside a form with another html selects) and I want to achieve the same. I added a onClick: 'submit()'; to the tbsDropdownMenu. The form seems to be submitted, but the callbacks of my anchors never get called: Reduced example: html form: [ html tbsButtonGroup: [ html tbsDropdownButton beDefault; beExtraSmall; with: [html text: 'Filter '; tbsCaret]. html tbsDropdownMenu onClick: 'submit()'; with: [ html tbsDropdownMenuItem: [ html anchor text: 'Selected'; callback: [self halt. ]. ]. html tbsDropdownMenuItem: [ html anchor text: 'Unselected'; callback: [self halt. ]. ]. ] ] ] Any ideas? Dropdown list with autocomplete?

Hi guys, I am searching for a dropdown list with autocomplete, ideally, already integrated with seaside. I am experimenting with Twitter Bootstrap for some part of the application so I saw there are a few projects like "Select2", "typeahead", "Bootstrap Combobox", etc...they normall end up using jquery.js. But none of them is already integrated in Seaside... I saw JQueryWidgetBox, but in http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~Seaside/JQueryWidgetBox in the entry: Autocomplete http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-autocomplete/ If you follow that it says the plugin has been deprecated... apache iframe seaside admin question

Users will open the index.html with the iFrame in it. From there, they will enter the seaside app. Locally, this works. But in production, with apache, I have problems. [ANN] Bootstrap for Seaside3 project (Release 0.1.0)

Have a look at the latest stable (download from CI or using PharoLauncher or config browser in a fresh 2.0), it now also has more components like inputs, progress bar, ... It also includes "holder.js" support, which is part of Bootstrap and able to generate "client side placeholder images" that show their current size for an image. Original is here http://imsky.github.io/holder/ - but as I said it is included in the Bootstrap.js already anyway. It is used in http://getbootstrap.com/components/#thumbnails to fill the thumbnails and in the same section "Thumbnails" at http://localhost:8080/bootstrap you will find the sample with the according Smalltalk code. "holder.js" together with #showGrid on a #tbsRow is really nice to find a first layout when prototyping. One starts to use tbsRow and tbsColumn messages to define the grid layout of the Seaside component. The #showGrid makes the grid lines visible (in dev mode). If your component also displays a picture somewhere - but you do not have one yet in your file library you can use: html image placeHolder: '100x120' to generate a placeholder image of size 100x120. Or you use html image placeHolder: '100%x120' to generate one that is 120 high and fills 100% space. Nice is'nt it. This way you can easily find an initial layout. Look at the TBSGridExample and TBSThumbnailExample for more. Bye T.

Hi John, it seems you were right at the end.... I was not submitting the form. But this is not all. The original method was: MACheckboxColumn >> renderCellFormContent: anObject on: html html checkbox value: (self isSelected: anObject); callback: [ :value | self selectRow: anObject value: value ] The only way I found to make it work is like this (notice the form, the label and the submitOnClick) renderCellFormContent: anObject on: html html form: [ html label: [ html checkbox submitOnClick; value: (self isSelected: anObject); callback: [ :value | self selectRow: anObject value: value ]]] but #submitOnClick is deprecated. So I don't know how this is supposed to be fixed without such a deprecation: WAFormInputTag >> submitOnClick self greaseDeprecatedApi: 'WAFormInputTag>>#submitOnClick' details: 'Use a dedicated Javascript library.'. self onClick: 'submit()' I have my own subclass of MACheckedColumn so I override this method. But I wanted to fix it and commit for others. Bug (and fix?) with #doSilently: and FileLibrary

Hi guys, I noticed that when we add files to FileLibrary using provided methods like both methods are created, #selectorsToInclude and whatever you have updated, say, #myCss. However, if you go to Monticello Browser, only #selectorsToInclude appears. Digging a bit, I found out that Seaside ends up using Grease for that. And Grease does: GRPharoPlatform >>compile: aString into: aClass classified: aSymbol self doSilently: [ aClass compile: aString classified: aSymbol ] And then, of course, the doSilently, ends up doing: GRPharoPlatform >> doSilently: aBlock "Deals with a different between Pharo1.x and Pharo2.x" ^ (Smalltalk includesKey: #SystemChangeNotifier) ifTrue:[(Smalltalk at: #SystemChangeNotifier) uniqueInstance doSilently: aBlock] ifFalse:[(Smalltalk at: #SystemAnnouncer) uniqueInstance suspendAllWhile: aBlock] So...first, I don't like that a method named like #compile:into:classified: does a silently compilation. Normally, we have the "silently" as part of the selector (or a boolean parameter). Second, why would we want to compile silently? the idea is that after, we commit the FileLibrary...so if the method is not there, it is a problem.
