can't find "create inst var accessors"

testPathEncoding fails with self assert: url printString = '/foo+bar'.

I loaded Seaside2.8a1-lr.578 into a Pharo0.1 #10124 image and when I run the seaside Sunits I get 5 failures and 2 errors. Most of the 5 failures seem to relate to some problem with "+" such as url path: #( 'foo bar' ). self assert: url printString = '/foo+bar'. I see Seaside2.8a1-lr.578 says - encoding spaces as + in urls is vicious and does not work on all web clients yet the test fails so I'm wondering if the required change is in some other package than Seaside2.8a1-lr.578 -- =========================================================================== John M. Monticello 2

Hi. I saw on Lukas's Esug presentation that Monticello 2 is recommended for Seaside development because it is supported on all of the Smalltalks that Seaside is available on. I was not aware of this; I thought Monticello 2 was still in the alpha phase, didn't yet support remote repositories, and only worked on Squeak. I must have missed something. Where can I find out more about Monticello 2? apache proxying / rewriting

Hi, I'd like to overlay seaside apps over the root of an apache vhost, ie http://host/foo.html is served as is if it's an actual file in the DocumentRoot, but http://host/pier gets reverse-proxied to a squeak image. Looking in previous threads, it looks like this should work: ProxyPreserveHost On RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/%{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://localhost:8080/seaside/$1 [P,L] But since seaside generates links with seaside, accessing http://host/pier works but then all the links generated by seaside are wrong. NB with RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://localhost:8080/$1 [P,L] and accessing http://host/seaside/pier, it *does* work. i am currently going through the "squeak by example" doc... it's really good and clear, btw.. anyway.. i am learning squeak pretty much for the sole purpose of learning seaside.. although i am having some ideas for squeak apps.. sooo, my question is.. will doing through this doc provide me with enough background to start developing in squeak? i am not new to programming, web design, web frameworks, or any of that.. just new to squeak.. thanks! ___ peace, sergio photographer, journalist, visionary www.village-buzz.com

Credit card processing - experiences, code?

Hello all, I am looking for a payment processing provider for my seaside e-commerce application. I saw that Ramon Leon uses authorize.net (there is some code in his development image [1]). I'd need to accept at least US dollars and euros, but it looks like authorize.net does only dollars. I am curious about your experiences with integrating credit card processing services in Seaside applications (or any web app). Anyone interested in starting a general package for Seaside, along the lines of ActiveMerchant for Rails[2] ? callback registry

Hi there, is there a way to clean up the callback registry, or to unregister some callbacks? The reason i ask is when you have a webpage that works almost only via Ajax and like never does normal callbacks, you end up with a very long callback registry that has a lot of blocks that are probably never called. If you don't pay attention to the kind of objects that you reference in such a callback, you might very well end up having memory leaks. It's a tricky problem, but maybe someone knows how to approach it. Because the test is such that it feeds browser a cookie and monitors if it receives it back, which would indicate browser supports them. hey, guys.. one quick question after watching the seaside movie last night.. pretend i have an application like ebay written in seaside.. so, i log into my account.. check my bids.. then, i do a search for something.. during that search, i find something my friend would really like.. so i send the link to my friend.. now.. suppose he immediately clicks it (i sent it over IM..) does he now have full access to my session, including my account information? ___ peace, sergio photographer, journalist, visionary www.village-buzz.com
