Hi Kim,
Thanks immensely! I'm located in Portugal, so I guess I won't be attending the SqueakFest, but I will be waiting eagerly for Ann and Val's response.
Inté,
Leonel

Hello Leonel, There was work done last year at Columbia College's (Chicago) Early Childhood Education dept. directed by Carol Ann Stowe and Val Scarlatta -- I've copied them here. They designed an Etoy interface appropriate for this age child. They will present this work at SqueakFest at Columbia just next week -- I don't know where you are located, but you should try to come! Anyways...I hope Carol Ann and Val will respond to you directly. regards, Kim

Hi,
I'm interested on computer programming experiences with children
aged 3, 4 and 5. I was unable to find documented cases of Etoys use in this age group, but expect that there should be at least a few user stories.
If anyone has reports, photos, or even just recollections of
such cases, I would love to hear about them!

Thanks for this information and the link!
Though the site is right that there is no eToys or Squeak mailing list in Portuguese, I did create a general one for Smalltalk where these are popular topics (though it has been very quiet the past few months):
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/st-br/
There is an equally quiet community in Orkut with 74 members and practically no overlap with the above list:

Hi Jecel, Leonel and all portuguese-speaking Squeakers of this list!
I started recently a website about Squeak, in portuguese. Please visit and send your commentaries, suggestions etc. It is mostly on the use of Squeak in education. I will be happy to include your work - etoys, simulations, models etc in the "Projetos" section. Soon there will be a forum, and also some project guides and tutorials to help Squeakers of all ages to start 'squeaking'.
The new version of Squeak, due shortly, will include tiles and most of the interface translated into portuguese. Mind you - mainly our friends of Portugal - that some wording will be in Brazilian Portuguese, which means different names for otherwise known things.
