Maybe the download Link for Linux must have bundled an old image. My linux box is offline at the moment (putting in a new graphics card).
You could download the Windows or Mac version and extract the .image file and move that to Linux. The image is portable (I move them from platform to platform all the time).

When I download/install/run Squeak on my Linux box, I see that the Navigator & Supplies items are very much different from, i.e. older than, the Windows version. E.g., there's no Navigator/Quit button on Linux; that's where the 'New' button is found. There's no Navigator/Language icon on Linux. And there are fewer items in the Supplies.
What's up? Is it really the case that Linux/Squeak is behind, or have I somehow installed an old version?
