Hi,
I am wondering if anyone experiences this problem: From the squeakland download page, I downloaded and installed the latest Squeak plugin on Windows 2000 (I normally run an old version on Linux but I needed to send some Squeak info to a teacher, and wanted to try to describe how to run projects directly).
Having downloaded it, I browse to a Squeak project on squeakland.org (e.g. projects under "high school") and click on it. I get a message:
"There are updates available, do you want to install them now?"
If I answer "Yes", the plugin does NOT open the project just sits there, I tried several times and waited for 5 minutes plus. (Answering "No" does go ahead and opens the project correctly.)
Has anyone notice the same behaviour? (Or perhaps there i some download hapenning which is exteremely slow?)
Thanks Milan
A follow up:
My problem was likely due to some stale setup.
I realized that if there are updates to a latest instalation, there is likely some stale setup. I tried again and did the following: - Uninstalled Squeak Plugin - removed the Squeak directory in Program Files (there was an INI file and other left over) - Reinstalled the plugin - After the plugin install, I clicked on the "here" link as instructed in the download instructions page. I am not sure this matters, but I forgot doing it the first time.
Then clicked a project on squeakland, Squeak did not tell me there are updates and project opened quickly and correctly.
I do not know if my problem could be qualified as "upgrade problem" (if so the report may still be of use), but the steps described above made it go away in case anyone had the same issue.
Sorry for a false alarm
Milan

Hi Milan,
it is a known bug that after loading updates, the project is not loaded automatically. When the updates were loaded and the image was saved (this happens automatically), you need to reload the page in the browser.

Hi Bert,
Thanks for your explanation - if I understand correctly, after clicking "Yes" to the "There are updates available, do you want to install them now?" I should have just re-loaded the page in browser, am I getting that right?
Although I am not completely sure why I was geting the "There are updates" question, because this all happened after I installed the latest plugin, which I thought would have overriden the old image if there was any, so no updates would be needed. But I was hurrying and I am now pretty sure I failed to exit the browser after the plugin install, which could have been why it thought the image need an update.
Thanks Milan
