Hi Squeakers,
Is anyone out there controlling your LEGO MindStorm from Squeak? I found this page: http://www.eg.bucknell.edu/~lego/
and just attempted to use it, but was unsuccessful. On closer reading, it's probably because I'm using MindStorm Invention 2.0 with an IR tower attached via USB.
Any advice/links, etc much appreciated!

Hi Randy,
I have controlled my Mindstorms 1.2 (?) version with Squeak (see the page at http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak/2412) but I was using a serial-connected tower.
I suppose the best bet would be for someone to write something that is compatible with the newest LEGO SDK (and so would work with all of these devices): http://mindstorms.lego.com/sdk2/LEGOMindStormsSDK.zip
Anyone out there in Squeak land interested?
Hi Randy!
A while ago we worked on a port of component model for Lego Mindstorm in Squeak. We really had some pretty good result...

I'm very much interested and see it as an opportunity for Squeak to extend the onscreen to the hands on. Wasn't the "wired serial turtle' what Papert originally used to display what was written in Logo? I've alsways wanted to connect Squeak with a turtle like this. I wonder if Lego Mindstorms could be the reverse extension of the onscreen Squeakland to a concrete experience for kids. I'm no developer, but I'd certainly be an appreciative beta tester.

Hi Randy,
I spent some days to make this piece of code works with my serial IR tower and cleaning up a bit.
My goal is to create an eToys interface to interact with and program the bots.
As soon as I finish my current project (Video4Linux support in Squeak) I'll resume the project.
I have not an USB IR tower, so I'll first work on the serial support first.
Stay tuned,
Diego
