Hi,
What I have done first was the french part of the template for differents languages adding french to the already existings languages and some changes directly in the code substituing french to the english strings.
That way scripting system and some menus used by E-toys were translated.
What I am doing now is to translate a large part of squeak like it was done in Japan by Yoshiki. (Yoshiki.Ohshima@acm.org ). But the Japan work is using a different character code on 24 bits instead of 8.
I 'am, working for the standard image and iso code. This time the right way, that means with all translations in an unique dictionary. I have used the work done for German,(sorry I have not retrieved the message posted here about German, so I can't tell you who has done this work) starting from this german dictionary . The good news for them, is that ther template will work for german.
This german translation is working in the japanase squeak.image too but with problems for accents.
Best Regards

We solved them by now. There was an "UmlautFixes" changeset posted here http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/pipermail/squeak-ev/2003-July/ 000460.html It is also contained in the "SqueakDeutsch" image at http://swiki.squeakfoundation.org/squeak-ev/84

Hi,
We, Small-Land, are using the german version with the UmlautFixes plus a set of really-small-fixes for the Spanish translation.
English, Japanese, German, French and Spanish. We're walking the right road!
Cheers,
Diego http://www.small-land.org

Hello,
Just FYI, I'm trying to "synchnonize" the m17n work with coming 3.6 release. I've added configurable "keyboard input interpreter" mechanism, so hopefully typing right half of latin1 is going to be fine.
Let me know if you have more to be included,

Hi Yoshiki,
These are great news!
Q: Are you incluging the "umlaut" fixes from the GermanSqueakGroup?
I also have small fixes for Spanish part that I'd like to see included.
Cheers,
Diego

Diego,

Effectively, yes. I've refactored the code around keyboard intpu and it should be more or less configurable now. I will need to ask you guys if my implementation makes sense.
I also have small fixes for Spanish part that I'd like to see included.
Oh, please send me the changes.
